Agent responsible for cholera

Agent responsible for cholera

Cholera involves a serious diarrheal ailment that can be attributed to the vibrio Cholerae bacteria (Mackay, 2015). The consumption of contaminated food and water can lead to cholera infection. The bacterial releases toxins that target the receptors in the human intestine. The disease can be serious and difficult to eliminate because its causative bacteria life cycle shifts between various species such as the snails, crustaceans, together with muck of the estuary.

Symptoms

Cholera symptoms can range from none, mild, to severe depending on the quantity of ingested bacterial. Within 5 – 6 hours of bacterium exposure, extreme watery diarrhea, vomiting, in addition to dehydration is experienced.

Diagnosis and treatment

  • Diagnosis involves dipstick test to establish the possibility of the presence of V. Cholerae in the human stool. Treatment is administered right away before diagnostic process begins. In pandemic cases of infection, clinical diagnosis involves documentation of the patient history and a brief examination by a qualified physician. In case the disease is detected and the possibility that the V. Cholerae 01 are present in the system of a person, it is prudent that treatment be commenced immediately

Water supply and cholera

  • Water is important in human life of humans due to its insightful influence on health. Therefore, the quality together with quantity of water influence people’s health and determines the health of a person and the entire community.

Public health efforts to reduce cholera

  • Cholera is not a big problem in the developed nations but it can be a health hazard in the developing countries with inadequate sanitation and water supply.

Write a 2 pages discussion based on the scenario given above, answering the following questions:

A 35-year-old male is admitted to a hospital following a minor car accident. He was driving home and fell asleep at the wheel. This is the third accident he has had in the past year. He also falls asleep regularly anywhere. When he becomes excited or enraged, he suddenly becomes weak and falls. At night, he often has bizarre, terrifying dreams. During these dreams, he feels as if he were paralyzed.

  • Describe how a nerve impulse is transmitted from one neuron to the next.
  • Compare the structure and functions of the central nervous system (CNS) and peripheral nervous system (PNS).
  • Based on the probable diagnosis of narcolepsy, what parts of the person’s brain could have been affected ?
  • What sleep state do these symptoms resemble?
  • How would an electroencephalogram (EEG) look like during the sleep condition of this patient?
  • What type of treatments (physical or chemical) would you prescribe for the patient?

A common practice used by companies to analyze themselves and their competitors is an analysis called “SWOT.” This process can inform key decisions and strategies. This exercise isn’t just for businesses; it can be helpful for nurses in evaluating their goals and aspirations too.

SWOT stands for:

S trengths – Factors that are likely to have a positive effect on (or be an enabler to) achieving the objective

W eaknesses – Factors that are likely to have a negative effect on (or be a barrier to) achieving the objective

O pportunities – External factors that are likely to have a positive effect on achieving or exceeding your objective, or goal not previously considered

T hreats – External factors and conditions that are likely to have a negative effect on achieving your objective, or making the objective redundant or unachievable

With the goal of graduating and practicing as an APRN, the first step is to understand more about yourself and your external environment. Complete a brief SWOT analysis in your Journal. Be sure to include references where appropriate.

Where to Post Response:

You will post this response to the online Journal. However, please write your response in Word or another text tool and save your work. When you are ready to post, copy your response text and paste it into the online Journal. This approach will ensure that you have a backup of your work.

Assignment Requirements:

As this Assignment is a Journal entry and not a formal paper, it may at times be difficult to follow the organization, style, and formatting of the APA 6th Edition Manual. Despite this, your Journal Assignment should:

  • be no more than 1–2 paragraphs (less than 1 page) in length;
  • clearly establish and maintain the viewpoint and purpose of the Assignment;
  • follow the conventions of Standard American English (correct grammar, punctuation, etc.);
  • be well orderedlogical, and unified, as well as original and insightful; and
  • display superior content, organization, style, and mechanics.

References may be included and if references are used, the references should be prepared in APA format.
